GENERAL LABOR/MATERIAL HANDLER (FLOW GUARD)

Location: 7736 E. Springfield Ave., Selma, CA 93662
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (overtime as needed)
Days: Monday – Friday (Saturdays as needed)
Position: Hourly    $17.50 Per Hour 
Payroll: Bi-weekly

Job Summary

Perform a variety of tasks that involve sanding, forming metal, and assembling parts/kits while supporting the direct labor operations of the Flow Guard Department.  


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deburr and groove various production parts.
  • Perform quality testing on parts.
  • Count parts before releasing them into inventory.
  • Operate hand tools, machines, and other equipment.
  • Assemble small parts into kits ready for shipping.
  • Pull parts for customer orders.
  • Visually inspect products for defects.
  • Use measuring tools such as tapes and calipers accurately.
  • Assist co-workers as needed to ensure safe operating procedures are followed.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding issues or concerns related to standard work processes.
  • Clean and maintain the work area, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain general shop housekeeping, including sweeping, breaking down boxes, and loading/unloading materials.
  • Complete safety training and comply with company safety and environmental policies.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
  • Operate industrial truck’s forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Inventories materials on work floor and supplies workers with materials as needed.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels or production schedules.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids or lifting device.
  • Performs daily forklift checklist.  Reports any problems to supervisor.
  • Maintains clean work area, machines, tools and equipment.
  • Performs any and all other job-related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • 1 to 2+ years of forklift experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on different shifts according to seasonal demand.
  • Excellent hand–eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to work seasonal shift hours
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.


Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting, twisting, and bending:

  • Standing: Frequent to continuous
  • Sitting: Occasional to frequent
  • Walking: Occasional to frequent
  • Bending/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling: Occasional to frequent
  • Gripping/manipulation: Frequent
  • Lifting and Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis

 

Working Conditions

Employees will work in a noisy environment and may be frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The role involves working near moving mechanical parts and using standard heavy equipment and tools. General Flow Guard assignments are heavy industrial, repetitive, and may be performed outdoors under varying weather conditions.

Personal Protective Equipment and Safety

Employees must wear approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety glasses, a respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toed (steel or composite toe) shoes. Always adhere to established safety practices.
