CORER/GENERAL LABOR (FOUNDRY)
(Selma, CA)

Location: 7736 E. Springfield Ave., Selma, CA 93662
Hours: 3:00 AM – 11:30 AM
(Overtime as needed.  Shift hours may vary based on seasonal production schedules.)
Days: Monday – Friday (Saturdays as needed)
Position: Hourly    $17.50 Per Hour 
Payroll: Bi-weekly

Job Summary
Responsible for performing a variety of labor and production support duties within the Core Room to assist in the manufacturing of quality sand cores used in the foundry casting process.  Perform tasks such as loading and unloading ovens, moving and stacking cores, preparing reinforcing wires and core materials, supplying production areas, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.  Supports the direct labor operations of the Foundry Department by performing assigned duties in a safe, efficient, and productive manner

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Read and understand job orders
  • Read and understand work orders, job instructions, and production schedules.
  • Read and interpret dimensional figures and specifications for chaplets, reinforcing wires, pads, and core components.
  • Cut, bend, and prepare various gauges of reinforcing wire using manual wire cutters and pneumatic wire bending fixtures.
  • Load and unload core ovens while handling cores carefully to prevent damage.
  • Stack, transport, and deliver finished cores to designated production areas.
  • Obtain and deliver sand, pallets, boxes, supplies, and production materials to support Core Room operations.
  • Assist with core preparation, assembly, handling, and movement throughout the production process.
  • Inspect cores and materials for visible defects and report quality concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintain production flow by communicating effectively with coworkers and coordinating material movement.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, equipment, and production materials.
  •  Rotate to other foundry departments as needed to support production demands or cover employee absences.
  • Maintain safe operations by following all company safety procedures, regulations, and required PPE requirements.
  • Perform any and all other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a foundry, manufacturing, production, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, pneumatic tools, and other production equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, job instructions, and production schedules.
  • Ability to perform basic measurements, count accurately, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish various gauges of reinforcing wire, chaplets, pads, and other core materials.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions while maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Ability to prioritize work and maintain production flow to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical labor throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and varying shift schedules as required to meet production demands.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, dust, fumes, noise, moving mechanical equipment, and varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a dependable work ethic.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all job requirements, company policies, safety rules, and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to adapt to changing production schedules, seasonal work hours, department assignments, and business needs.

Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting, twisting, and bending:
  • Standing: Frequent to continuous
  • Walking: Occasional to frequent
  • Bending/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling: Occasional to frequent
  • Gripping/Manipulation: Frequent to continuous
  • Lifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs., from floor to waist (more with assistance)

Working Conditions
Employees will work in a noisy environment and may be frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.  The role requires working near moving mechanical parts and operating heavy equipment and tools.  Core and Foundry assignments are industrial and physically demanding, involving repetitive tasks that may be performed under varying weather conditions.

Personal Protective Equipment and Safety
Employees must wear approved PPE at all times, including safety glasses, a respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toed (steel or composite toe) shoes.
Hard hats must be worn when applicable.  Seatbelts must be worn when and if operating forklifts.  Compliance with all safety protocols is required.
